ADSM / Tivoli Storage Manager Knowlege Modul für BMC PATROL

CTS ADSM/TSM KM for PATROL allows administrators to monitor simultaneously multiple servers via various PATROL Agents.

Single point of view / end to end proactive monitoring of the entire functionality of the TSM server(s): Make sure that backups and recoveries run reliably without permanent and extensive attention by the staff.

Our solution provides information on every relevant function of the TSM Server such as the database, server status, backup and recovery status and failures, storage pools and libraries, nodes, drives, activity log entries and more to prevent loss of valuable data.

The ADSM/TSM KM monitors the Server-Process and the following components of the ADSM/TSM Server:

• Backup, utilization of the database and copy status of belonging volumes
• Utilization of the recovery log and copy status of belonging volumes
• Utilization and volumes
  (copy status, migration, tape and pending) of the storage pool
• Filespaces on client nodes/workstations without regular backups
• Active sessions and administrative sessions
• The Activity-Log for alerts and user-defined events/alerts
• The drives configured with ADSM/TSM

The ADSM/TSM KM for PATROL consists of the following application classes:

The ADSM/TSM KM for PATROL has various parameters that provide statistical Information about used resources, status of the ADSM/TSM Server, backups on nodes, performance and more. See the PATROL Console User Guide for additional information about the various types of parameters and how they work with PATROL.

  • Collects parameters for the ADSM consumer parameters for all ADSM application classes

• ADSM Application Class
  • BkupNotCompletet
    Indicates all administrative backup schedules, which are not complete
  • DBLastCmpBkup
    Indicates the number of hours since the last completed ADSM database backup
  • DBNumNotSaved
    Indicates the number of not completed ADSM database backups
  • DBVolumeState
    Checks, if all database volumes have sync´d status
  • RecoveryLogUtil
    Indicates the utilisation of the recovery log
  • UncompletedJobs
    Indicates the number of not completed jobs, administrative jobs are excluded
  • UnusedTapes
    Shows the number of tapes, which have no actual state
  • DBCashWait
    Indicates the cash wait of ADSM database
  • RecoLogCashWait
    Indicates the cash wait of ADSM recovery log
  • RecoLogVolumeState
    Checks, if all recovery log volumes have sync´d statusg
  • FreeVolumes
    Indicates the number of volumes, which have not the state scratch,

    Alarms when the bachup of one or more filespaces is more than one day ago

  • DiskVolMigration
    Indicates the disk storage pool migration relative to high migration
  • TapeVolume
    Indicates the percentages of tape volumes of the storage pool
  • PendingVolume
    Only for tape volumes; all data of the volume has been timed, but the volume is not yet available for reuse
  • Utilization
    Indicates the utalization of the storage pool

    Checks Activity-Log for alerts
  • Special Alerts
    Checks Activity-Log for user-defined alerts

• ADSM_DRIVES Application Class
  • Status
    Checks the State of a Drive
  • MountWait_TimeOut
    Goes into alarm when mount request does not succeed within a given time
